Many patients want to address signs of aging on the face, but not every patient needs the same approach. If someone is noticing jowls and other cosmetic issues in the lowermost part of their face—and not much else—they may be a good candidate for something known as a mini facelift at New Jersey’s Sood Center.

Mini Facelift
While most of what defines a mini facelift is meant to minimize the procedure—including invasiveness and downtime—Dr. Mohit Sood uses it to maximize results for the right patient.
Ideal candidates are those who have cosmetic issues they would like to address in the mouth area and below. Commonly, the procedure targets nasolabial folds—sometimes referred to as laugh lines or parentheses lines—that appear as creases next to the mouth, sagging skin in the lower face, and the development of jowls that create a “bottom-heavy” appearance and obscure what could otherwise be a well-defined jawline.
Since the surgical area is so focused, Dr. Sood is able to use less-invasive techniques, which also reduces the risk of post-surgical swelling and bruising over a larger region. This also results in a quicker recovery time, making the procedure particularly appealing.
Full Facelift
A complete or full facelift addresses jowls and creases, but can also include work performed both higher and lower on the face. In the midface, volume loss often leads to the development of hollows and a gaunt look. Restoring volume to this area gives patients more pleasantly rounded contours and a more youthful fullness. A facelift may also include a neck lift, which targets wrinkles and bands that form farther down below the chin.
Patients who want to focus on features that are even higher—including the eyelids and forehead—can opt for surgical strategies that focus on that part of the face. Note that these are separate from both a mini and full facelift, but can be combined for an overall look of rejuvenation.
