Chemical Peels

Remove Dry and Dull Layers in Linwood and Haddonfield, New Jersey

Ultraviolet radiation, pollution, environmental stressors, and time itself all take a toll on the skin, causing a smooth and radiant surface to become dull, dry, and wrinkled over time. Chemical peels at New Jersey’s Sood Center counter those cosmetic changes by removing the damaged and dead skin cells on the surface. Not only does this take away the problematic layer hiding more youthful skin cells below, but it also prompts the creation of new structure-building collagen and other beneficial elements. The result is dewier, fresher-looking, more radiant skin!

Chemical Peels

What Are Chemical Peels?

One of the most effective strategies for giving the face a rejuvenated look is exfoliation. This treatment involves removing dead skin cells and debris, and it can be accomplished several ways. Mechanical exfoliation abrades or “polishes” away the unwanted material. Chemical peels, however, work a little differently. Acids of varying strengths are applied to directly to the surface, where they penetrate down to a specific depth and eventually cause the treated skin to slough off or “peel” away.

Options range from shallow to deep, with post-treatment down time depending on the strength of the peel.

There are many types of chemical peels. Sood Center offers a range of options, with some of the most popular being the various VI Peels (which are medium depth and safe for all skin types).

What Can Chemical Peels Treat

Different peels may be used to target different cosmetic conditions. In general, peels are good for addressing multiple skin conditions at once.
Most commonly, skin peels are used to treat overall dullness, fine lines and wrinkles, spots and other hyperpigmented lesions, rough and scaly texture, uneven pigmentation, and acne. They can also help to reduce the appearance of scars, including acne scars.

How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost?

What Is the Sood Center Chemical Peel Experience?

Before any chemicals are applied, we will first cleanse your face with an antiseptic solution. Then, we will use a soft cloth or brush to apply the chemical peel directly to your skin, where it will remain for a predetermined amount of time—typically five to 10 minutes. Finally, we will neutralize and clean off the solution, after which we may apply a moisturizer as necessary.

What Happens After a Chemical Peel?

Skin treated with a face peel is very similar to sunburned skin: It can be red, sensitive, and even swollen, especially after a medium or deep peel. Be sure to protect your skin from ultraviolet radiation to avoid sun damage. Also, remember to hydrate well and avoid using makeup and other cosmetics while healing. As the old layer flakes away, new skin will be revealed. This process can play out over days and weeks. It may also be necessary to have multiple treatments to achieve your desired texture and tone. The VI Peel, for example, should be applied in three separate sessions, the last two of which you perform easily at home.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Peels are especially effective for the right patient, but some people prefer treatments that don’t require as much downtime, while others want more dramatic results or to focus on contours instead of surface-level issues. Sood Center’s team will help you figure out which approach is best for you when we explore your options together at your initial consultation.
The acids used in skin peels are very strong, so searching “chemical peel near me” and going with the first result may not be the most effective—or safest—approach. Dr. Mohit Sood understands the importance of reliable results that develop from safe treatments administered in a caring and welcoming environment. That’s why Sood Center’s team is highly trained and experience in this powerful skin-rejuvenation strategy. The formulations are so powerful and effective, they may only be applied in a professional setting under the care of an experienced provider. We welcome anyone interested in the treatment to our medspa—and highly recommend this approach over weaker and less-reliable chemical peels at home.
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation treatment that involves “sanding” away the outermost layer of skin, while dermaplaning swipes away peach fuzz and dead cells with a specialized tool and HydraFacial® combines several steps into one. For rejuvenating skin from the inside out, we offer microneedling and PRP treatments.
